Preparation
- Prepare Your Dredging Station: In one shallow bowl, place the flour, and season with salt and pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Coat the Cheese Sticks: Take a cheese stick and dip it into the flour, ensuring it’s coated evenly. Next, dip it into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, roll the cheese stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently for an even coat. Repeat this process for all cheese sticks.
- Freeze for a Firmer Texture: Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for about 30 minutes.
Cooking
- Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan, pour enough oil to submerge the sticks (about 2 inches), and heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Cheese Sticks: Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for 1-2 minutes each, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and Serve: Use a slotted spoon to transfer the mozzarella sticks to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve immediately with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
Keep everything cold for better results. Optionally, use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch. Maintain oil temperature for a perfect fry.
