Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 12 oz string mozzarella cheese or mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs (preferably seasoned) Panko breadcrumbs can be used for extra crunch.
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Optional: Marinara sauce for dipping

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half to create shorter sticks.
  2. In one bowl, add the flour, in a second bowl, crack and whisk the eggs, and place the breadcrumbs in the third bowl.
Breading
  1. Coat each cheese stick in flour, then dip it in the egg mixture, ensuring it's fully covered, and roll it in the breadcrumbs.
  2. Press firmly to ensure a good coating and repeat this for all cheese sticks.
  3. Place the breaded cheese sticks in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully add a few sticks at a time and fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally.
  3. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  4. Serve hot with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce!
