Ingredients
  

For the Onion Rings
  • 2 large onions Peeled and sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice
  • 2 large eggs Whisked with buttermilk
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • salt and pepper To taste
  • Oil For frying

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel and slice the onions into rings, aiming for about 1/4-inch thickness.
  2. In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until combined.
  4. In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs and shredded cheese.
Coating the Onion Rings
  1. Dip each onion ring first into the flour to coat.
  2. Then immerse it in the egg and buttermilk mixture.
  3. Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb and cheese mixture, pressing lightly to ensure adherence.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Once oil reaches about 350°F, carefully place a few onion rings in the oil in batches.
  3. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden-brown.
  4. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Enjoy your Crispy Cheesy Onion Ring Chips while still hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

You can substitute cheese with gouda, mozzarella, or pepper jack for different flavors. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying.
