Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Feel free to customize with your favorite cheese.
  • Optional toppings (e.g., garlic powder, herbs) Add according to preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) for perfectly crispy edges.
  2. Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and slice the head into approximately 1-inch thick 'steaks'. This should yield about 4-6 steaks depending on the size of the cabbage.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil over the cabbage slices, coating both sides. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and any optional toppings.
  4. Place the cabbage steaks on a lined baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded for even cooking.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispiness.
  2. Remove the steaks from the oven, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top, and return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  3. Once golden and melty, let them sit for a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy your Crispy Cabbage Steaks with Cheese hot!

Notes

For a spicier kick, substitute pepper jack cheese. Ensure steaks are cut thick enough to hold up during cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days and reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for best results.
