Ingredients

Dumpling Filling
  • 2 cups cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Dumpling Wrappers and Cooking
  • 1 package dumpling wrappers (about 30 wrappers)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Additional soy sauce, for dipping

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by finely chopping the cabbage. You want it to be bite-sized for easy folding.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.
Assembling Dumplings
  1. Take a dumpling wrapper and place about a tablespoon of the cabbage filling in the center. Using a brush or your finger, wet the edges of the wrapper with a little water.
  2. Fold the wrapper in half to create a half-moon shape, pressing the edges to seal tightly. Repeat this step until all the filling is used.
Cooking
  1. In a large frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the dumplings in a single layer (it’s okay if they touch a little).
  2. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove the dumplings from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with soy sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding finely chopped mushrooms or spinach to the filling. Fry the dumplings in batches to avoid overcrowding, ensuring even cooking and crispiness.
