Ingredients

Filling Ingredients
  • 1 small head cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 pieces green onions, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Dumpling Assembly
  • 1 package dumpling wrappers
  • as needed for frying oil
  • to taste soy sauce for dipping

Method

Prepare the Filling
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped mushrooms, green onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  2. Add the soy sauce and sesame oil, mixing everything well until evenly combined.
Assemble the Dumplings
  1. Take one dumpling wrapper and place it on a clean surface. Add about a tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center.
  2. Wet the edges of the wrapper with a bit of water, fold it in half, and pinch to seal tightly. You can also create pleats for a decorative touch.
Fry the Dumplings
  1. In a skillet or a frying pan, heat enough oil to cover the bottom over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the dumplings, frying until they are golden brown and crispy—around 3-4 minutes per side.
Serve
  1. Once cooked, remove from oil and let them drain on a paper towel. Serve warm with soy sauce for dipping.

Notes

Feel free to customize the filling by adding ground chicken, shrimp, or tofu for added protein. Ensure the oil is hot enough to prevent soggy wrappers, and seal the dumplings properly to avoid leaks. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
