Method
Cooking the Shrimp
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the shrimp, cooking until they turn pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
- Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
Making the Sauce
- Lower the heat and stir in heavy cream, bringing it to a simmer.
- Mix in half of the parmesan cheese until melted. Set aside.
Layering and Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread a thin layer of the creamy sauce in the bottom of an 8x12 baking dish.
- Layer three noodles, followed by a portion of the shrimp, another layer of sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers until you run out of ingredients, finishing with sauce and the remaining mozzarella and parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil (to prevent sticking), and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the top is bubbly and golden.
- Before slicing, let it sit for 10 minutes. Top with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Pairs well with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables. Garlic bread complements the dish perfectly.
