Ingredients
Method
Cooking the Tortellini
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the cheese tortellini according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set it aside.
Browning the Beef
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
Sautéing Onions and Garlic
- Once the beef is browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Making the Cream Sauce
- Reduce the heat to low, then pour in the heavy cream. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and combined. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Combining Tortellini and Sauce
- Gently fold the cooked tortellini into the creamy beef sauce until well-coated. Allow it to simmer for about 2-3 minutes until heated through.
Serving
- Off the heat, garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
If you want a different meat option, ground chicken or turkey (halal) can be great substitutes. To save time, consider preparing the beef mixture ahead of time and reheating it before adding the tortellini. To avoid a too-thick sauce, add a tablespoon of pasta water until you reach the desired consistency.
