Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract Can be substituted with coconut flavoring.
Decoration
  • Red and green sugar sprinkles For decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the mixing bowl. Mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, incorporating until smooth.
Baking
  1. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Immediately sprinkle the cookies with red and green sugar sprinkles after removing from the oven.
  4. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave for a few seconds.
