Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, sugar, and yeast. Pour in warmed milk and melted butter, and mix until well combined.
- Add the egg and salt, mixing thoroughly. Gradually add remaining flour until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean cloth. Let it rise in a warm area until it doubles in size (approx. 1 hour).
- While the dough is rising, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar, pistachios, and vanilla in a mixing bowl until blended.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Evenly distribute the cream cheese mixture over the dough, then sprinkle the ground cinnamon on top.
- Tightly roll the dough from one end to the other and slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let them cool slightly, and enjoy warm!
Notes
You can swap all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour. Ensure yeast is fresh for best results. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to three months. To reheat, warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes.
