Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces Use boneless and skinless for best results.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin Can be substituted with vinegar and sugar.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 green onions, chopped For garnish.
  • 1 bamboo skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes before use) Soaking prevents the skewers from burning.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, and brown sugar. Add the chicken pieces and toss until well coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. While the chicken marinates, soak the bamboo skewers in water to prevent them from burning on the grill.
Cooking
  1. Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked skewers, packing them close together but without overcrowding.
  2. Preheat the grill to medium-high. If using a grill pan, lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  3. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, basting with leftover marinade for extra flavor.
  4. Ensure the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
Serving
  1. Garnish the skewers with chopped green onions and enjoy your cozy meal with family!

Notes

For maximum flavor, avoid overcrowding the skewers and ensure the grill is preheated. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
