  • 4 hamburger buns Soft buns for serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients. Dice the onion and mince the garlic to have everything ready for cooking.
Cooking the Chicken
  1. In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until it's translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Next, add the minced garlic and ground chicken. Cook until the chicken is browned and fully cooked through, stirring frequently, for about 5-6 minutes.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Once the chicken is cooked, reduce the heat to low. Pour in the marinara sauce and sprinkle Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over the top.
  2. Stir everything together and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Assembling the Sloppy Joes
  1. Toast the hamburger buns on a skillet or in the oven until golden brown.
  2. Spoon the chicken mixture generously over the bottom halves of the buns.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheeses over the chicken.
  4. For extra flavor, bake the open-faced sandwiches in the oven for 5 minutes at 350°F (175°C) until the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil. Top the sandwiches with the other halves of the buns and serve immediately.
