Ingredients

Cheese Mixture
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1 large egg
Spices
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
Optional Garnish
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (parsley or cilantro) Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients together. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses along with the breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Crack the egg into the mixture and stir well until everything is combined. You should have a sticky cheese mixture.
  4. With your hands, take a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a ball, about the size of a golf ball. Place it on a lined baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used (about 12-15 balls).
  5. Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the balls are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once done, let them cool for a couple of minutes, then serve warm. You can garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For a spicy kick, try using pepper jack cheese or gouda for a smokier flavor. While baking is healthier, you can shallow fry these cheese balls for extra crunch. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
