Preparation
- Start by gathering all your ingredients together. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses along with the breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Crack the egg into the mixture and stir well until everything is combined. You should have a sticky cheese mixture.
- With your hands, take a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a ball, about the size of a golf ball. Place it on a lined baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used (about 12-15 balls).
- Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the balls are golden brown and crispy.
- Once done, let them cool for a couple of minutes, then serve warm. You can garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
For a spicy kick, try using pepper jack cheese or gouda for a smokier flavor. While baking is healthier, you can shallow fry these cheese balls for extra crunch. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
