Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook your pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- If using fresh broccoli, steam or boil it for about 3-5 minutes until tender. If using frozen, simply thaw and drain any excess moisture.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, chopped broccoli, shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure everything is coated evenly.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. If using, add the breadcrumbs for that crunchy crust.
Baking
- Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving to help it set.
Notes
Substitutions: You can swap the pasta for whole wheat or gluten-free varieties. For a creamier texture, consider adding a splash of cream or cream cheese. Monitor the bake after about 20 minutes to avoid over-browning. Ensure to drain excess moisture from the broccoli to prevent a soggy dish.
