Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cups egg noodles, cooked
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crispy French fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it nice and hot for baking.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add your ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Be sure to drain any excess fat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and salt and pepper. Add the browned beef and onion mixture to the bowl and stir it all together until well incorporated.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until it’s bubbling and golden.
  6. Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the crispy French fried onions on top. Return it to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to allow the onions to crisp up.
  7. Once everything is hot and bubbly, let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy the delightful textures and flavors with your family!

Notes

For substitutions, you can swap the beef for Halal ground turkey or chicken. Precook your noodles while browning the beef to speed up the preparation process. Make sure to drain excess fat from the beef to avoid a greasy casserole and let the dish sit before serving for better flavor meld.
