  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup Cream of chicken can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 cup milk Use whole milk for a creamier texture.
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots Crispy tater tots are essential for this dish.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to personal preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease, add the diced onion and sauté until softened.
Mixing and Assembling
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the cooked meat, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and half of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. Top with tater tots, arranging them in a single layer across the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  2. In the last 5 minutes of baking, sprinkle the remaining cheese over the tater tots. Return to the oven until cheese is melted.
Serving
  1. Let cool slightly before serving. Top with your favorite toppings to add a personal touch!

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave. It can also be frozen for up to 2 months.
