Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the wet ingredients: applesauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil. Mix thoroughly until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing it and transferring it to a wire rack.
Finishing Touch
- Once cooled, drizzle the warm caramel sauce generously over the cake. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Tip: You can spice it up by increasing the amounts of cinnamon or nutmeg. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week.
