Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking.
- Cut the slices of bread into bite-sized cubes and set them aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and brown sugar.
- Add the bread cubes and diced apples to the egg mixture and gently fold until the bread is well-coated. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
Baking
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer half of the bread mixture into the dish and drizzle half of the caramel sauce over it.
- Add the remaining bread mixture on top, followed by the remaining caramel sauce.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
Serving
- Once it’s out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then cut into squares.
- Serve warm, topped with whipped cream and an extra drizzle of caramel sauce if desired.
Notes
Use day-old bread like challah or brioche for best results. This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated overnight.
