Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 3-4 pounds Halal-certified ham (bone-in or boneless) Ensure all your ingredients are Halal certified.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey Can be substituted with maple syrup.
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard (or Halal mustard)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Place the ham on a roasting pan. If it’s bone-in, position it fat side up. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern.
  3. In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and black pepper. Stir until it forms a consistent mixture.
  4. Generously brush the glaze over the surface of the ham, ensuring that it gets into the scored areas.
Cooking
  1. Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and place it in the oven. Bake for about 1 hour.
  2. Remove the foil and baste the ham with the released juices. Continue cooking uncovered for another 30-45 minutes, basting occasionally.
  3. Once your ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C), take it out and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Serving
  1. Slice your Brown Sugar Glazed Ham and serve.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or frozen for up to 2-3 months. Reheat gently in the oven at 300°F (150°C).
