Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch (optional, for thickness)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Optionally, pound them slightly for even cooking.
Making the Sauce
  1. In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and olive oil. Stir until well combined.
Cooking the Chicken
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a splash of oil, then place the chicken breasts in the skillet and sear for about 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  2. Pour the prepared brown sugar garlic sauce over the chicken. Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce thickens. Whisk in cornstarch mixed with a little water for a thicker sauce if desired.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in a skillet with a splash of broth or microwave until warm.
