Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated but don’t overmix.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a lightly greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet.
Cooking
- Place the loaf in your preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until the meat reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- In a small saucepan, combine beef broth and cornstarch, stirring to dissolve. Heat on medium until the mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
Serving
- Once the meatloaf is done, let it rest for 10 minutes. Slice it up and generously drizzle the brown gravy over the top before serving.
Notes
Substitutions: You can substitute half of the ground beef with finely chopped vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for added nutrition. Timing: Letting the meatloaf rest after baking is crucial for more flavorful and moist slices. Avoid overmixing to prevent a dense loaf.
