Ingredients

For the Blackberry Filling
  • 4 cups Fresh blackberries (washed and drained) Fresh blackberries work best for flavor and texture.
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
For the Cobbler Batter
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour Adds structure to the topping.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder For a perfect rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt To balance the sweetness.
  • 1 cup Milk Creates a moist crust; can substitute with a plant-based alternative.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (melted) Enhances texture.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Optional, but adds a lovely aroma.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, gently combine the blackberries and half of the sugar (1/2 cup). Let them sit for about 10 minutes to release their juices.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt. Pour in the milk and melted butter, stirring until just combined.
Assembling and Baking
  1. In a greased baking dish (9 x 13 inches), pour the batter evenly over the bottom. Spoon the blackberry mixture over the batter; do not stir!
  2. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cobbler is golden brown and bubbling.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Pair it with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the ultimate treat!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze wrapped for up to 2 months. Reheat in the microwave or oven while preserving texture.
