Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, add the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture and work until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick. Fold it over three times for extra fluffiness, then gently roll out to about ¾ inch thick.
- Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with melted butter before baking.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with your favorite spread.
Notes
Try serving with creamy gravy, fruit preserves, or whipped cream. For storage, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze unbaked biscuits for up to 3 months.
