Preparation
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, honey, black pepper, paprika, and dried thyme. Whisk until well blended.
- Take your choice cut of steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank steak work great) and make shallow cuts across the surface to allow the marinade to penetrate better.
- Place the steak in a zip-top bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Ensure the steak is coated evenly. Seal or cover tightly.
- Allow the steak to marinate for at least 30 minutes; for best results, marinate for 4-24 hours.
- Preheat your grill or skillet and remove the steak from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Cook to your desired doneness, usually 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
- Let the steak rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.
- Slice against the grain, plate beautifully, and savor every delicious bite.
Notes
Substitutions: If you're out of olive oil, avocado oil makes a fantastic alternative. For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce. Timing: Don’t rush the marinating process. Avoid using acidic ingredients for too long as they can lead to a mushy texture.
