Ingredients

Key ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Make sure your bananas are ripe for sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice To prevent browning and add zest.
  • as needed tablespoons vegetable oil For frying.

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel the ripe bananas and slice them into thin rounds (about ¼ inch thick) for even frying.
  2. In a bowl, combine granulated sugar with the ground cinnamon.
  3. Drizzle lemon juice over the banana slices and toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
Cooking
  1. In a deep frying pan, heat enough vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully add banana slices to the hot oil, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Remove the chips using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  4. While still warm, sprinkle any remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture over the chips.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Enjoy fresh! Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-5 days or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for 10 minutes to restore crunchiness.
