Ingredients

For the fritters
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or a non-dairy alternative) Can substitute with almond or oat milk.
  • 1 large egg
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • powdered sugar (for dusting or serving)

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small pieces and set aside in a bowl.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, and whisk them together until well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg, then gradually pour this mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  4. Gently fold the diced apples into the batter until evenly distributed.
  5. Heat about 1-2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
Cooking
  1. Use a spoon or small scoop to drop the batter into the hot oil, frying a few at a time. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  2. Once cooked, lift out the fritters and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serving
  1. Dust with powdered sugar before serving and enjoy warm with your favorite beverage.

Notes

For best results, monitor oil temperature to avoid burning and avoid over-mixing the batter.
