  • 2 slices slices of bread Sourdough or whole wheat recommended for better flavor.
  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded Rotisserie chicken can be used for convenience.
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce Ensure it’s alcohol-free.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese Cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend can be used.
  • 1 tablespoon butter For grilling the bread.
Optional Toppings
  • sliced avocado Optional, for added creaminess.
  • crispy onion strings Optional, for crunch.
  • jalapeños Optional, if you like heat.
  • chopped cilantro Optional, for freshness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken with the BBQ sauce, mixing until well-coated.
  2. Place a skillet over medium heat to warm up.
Assembly and Cooking
  1. Spread a little butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. On the unbuttered side, layer half of the cheese, then add the BBQ chicken mixture, and top with the remaining cheese.
  3. Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up.
  4. Carefully transfer the sandwich to the hot skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Use a spatula to flip the sandwich and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese has melted and the bread is crispy.
  6. Remove from the skillet, cut in half, and serve warm. Enjoy every cheesy, savory bite!

Notes

Substitutions such as turkey or grilled mushrooms can keep it Halal. Experiment with different cheeses for varied flavor. To retain the crispy texture when reheating, use medium-low heat.
