  • 8 oz elbow macaroni Cook according to package instructions until al dente.

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese Main cheese for flavor.

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper For seasoning.
  • 1/2 tsp paprika For added flavor.
Topping Ingredients
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs For the crunchy topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour, stirring for about 1-2 minutes until it forms a paste.
  4. Gradually add the milk while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, salt, pepper, and paprika. Continue to stir until the cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
  6. Combine the pasta and cheese sauce, mixing until well combined.
  7. Transfer to a greased 2-quart baking dish and spread evenly.
  8. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the top of the macaroni and cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider mixing garlic powder or herbs into the breadcrumbs. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-5 days.
