Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 package frozen croissant dough (8 pieces)
  • 1 cup shredded Halal-friendly cheese (like mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1 cup Halal-friendly deli turkey or chicken slices
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 each egg (for egg wash)
Garnish
  • as needed Fresh herbs like parsley or thyme (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for that golden baked finish.
  2. Prepare Croissant Dough: Remove the croissant dough from the package and lay it flat on a slightly floured surface.
  3. Add Fillings: For each triangle of dough, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard (if using) and place a few slices of Halal-friendly deli meat of your choice. Top with a generous sprinkle of shredded cheese.
  4. Roll Them Up: Starting from the wide end of the triangle, roll the dough towards the point, ensuring all the fillings are enclosed. Place the rolled croissants on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  5. Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg to create an egg wash. Brush it over the tops of your croissants to give them a golden color when baked.
  6. Bake: Place the tray in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until they are puffed and beautifully golden-brown.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes to regain crispiness.
