Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices slices of bacon (or an alternative of your choice) Can substitute with turkey bacon or a vegetarian alternative.
  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped Chop into small pieces for quicker cooking.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Slice into thin rounds for even cooking.
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced Minced garlic enhances flavor.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste Adjust according to preference.
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil Use if needed for sautéing.
Optional Toppings
  • Chopped parsley For garnish.
  • A sprinkle of paprika For added flavor.

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Once done, remove the slices and set them aside, but keep the drippings in the skillet for flavor.
  2. Add the sliced onion to the same skillet and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Toss in the minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Gradually add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring well. Cook for about 10-15 minutes until the cabbage softens and becomes tender.
  5. Crumble the cooked bacon over the cabbage mixture and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well and allow to cook for another few minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. If desired, top with chopped parsley or paprika before serving. Enjoy your Bacon and Cabbage Delight warm!

Notes

Feel free to experiment with additional seasonings like red pepper flakes for heat. Avoid sogginess by ensuring the bacon is dry and allowing the sautéed mixture to breathe.
