Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 slices slices of bread (your choice, but sourdough or whole grain work well)
  • 4-6 ounces sliced turkey Deli-style or homemade turkey breast works best.
  • 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese Experiment with different cheeses; pepper jack can add a spicy kick!
  • 1 small apple, thinly sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are perfect)
  • to taste Butter or olive oil, for grilling A little smear of mayo can help keep everything juicy if the bread is dry.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients. Slice the apple thinly and set it aside.
Assemble
  1. Take one slice of bread and layer it with turkey, followed by the cheddar cheese, and then the apple slices. Top it off with another slice of bread.
Grill
  1. Heat a pan over medium heat. Spread butter or drizzle olive oil on the outside of the sandwich. Once the pan is ready, place the sandwich in it, pressing down slightly.
Cook
  1. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted. If you want it extra crispy, just add another minute or so per side.
Serve
  1. Once done, remove it from the heat, slice diagonally, and enjoy while it’s hot!

Notes

Pair with a refreshing side salad, creamy tomato soup, or sweet potato fries. To store leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat on the grill or in a toaster oven for several minutes. Freeze assembled paninis (without grilling) for up to a month.
